History & Staff
We have years of experience caring for families, from all walks of life. Each family comes to us because they know we are leaders in our profession, dedicated to excellence in service, and have the highest integrity.
Davis Family Funeral Home is a family owned and operated funeral service business. We opened our doors at 113 Osage (Hwy. 75) in Dewey, in August 2011.
Our founder Carter Davis (see below) has 20 years of funeral experience, and a vision for providing affordable, caring and high-quality funeral services that are more meaningful in the lives of families today. Davis Family Funeral Home has expanded our funeral home facility to include a spacious chapel that seats 150 and we look forward to offering even more options to the families we are honored to serve.
Our Valued Staff
Carter N. Davis, Funeral Director
Carter is the owner and funeral director-in-charge at Davis Family Funeral Home – a full-service funeral home that provides “Exceptional Services to Remarkable People.” Carter’s vision is to offer high quality funeral services and funeral merchandise that honors the individual’s unique life, meets the family’s needs, comforts the grieving, and brings together people in the community, yet remains affordable and accessible to everyone.
Carter was born in Tulsa, the firstborn son of Gary and Brenda Davis, but he grew up in Dewey. Carter graduated from Dewey High School (Class of ’91) where he was active in band and stage choir. Carter is an Eagle Scout, as is his son Austin. Carter attended University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond, which is just one of a handful of American universities with a funeral science degree program, and where he met his future wife Jacqi. Carter studied hard, played a little, received an undergraduate scholarship and, after three and a half years of hard work, Carter graduated in December 1994.
After a year’s funeral service apprenticeship, Carter moved overseas to Singapore, the hometown of his college sweetheart Jacqi. They were married in 1996 and Carter soon established Singapore’s first professional embalming service. Six years and two precious kids later, Carter and Jacqi moved back to Dewey, Oklahoma, and Carter worked for local funeral homes in Bartlesville for the next nine years.
Carter welcomes calls and questions from anyone with funeral needs and concerns on their mind. Email Carter at [email protected]

Carter Davis Family, Carter, Jacqi, Austin & Amrose
Carter and Jacqi Davis are the proud parents of Austin (20) and Amrose (17). They attend First Bartlesville Nazarene Church and enjoy living in downtown Bartlesville. Austin is a senior at Oklahoma State University (Go Pokes!) and an Eagle Scout. Amrose is a senior at Bartlesville High School.
Jacqueline "Jacqi" Davis met Carter in college and has been married to Carter for more than 20 years. Jacqi works as a Communications Advisor at Phillips 66. Born in Singapore, Jacqi attended University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond, Okla., where she met and fell in love with Carter. After two years as Public Relations Director at OK Mozart Festival (2005-’06), Jacqi has experienced firsthand why volunteerism makes America great, and makes the Bartlesville-Dewey area a great place to live in and raise families. These days, Jacqi volunteers for youth-related activities, such as Westside Community Center’s All That Jazz annual fundraiser, and she often helps Carter and her friends with their favorite non-profit groups. She's volunteered to help the Blue Star Mothers, Bartlesville Film Society, Dewey Civic Association, to name just a few non-profits.
Gary and Brenda Davis
Gary and Brenda Davis, parents of Carter Davis, assist in the Davis Family Funeral Home office.
Gary was a minister in the Nazarene Church for 10 years and then a medical technologist at the Jane Phillips Medical Center (JPMC) in Bartlesville, Okla., for 28 years. When Carter established the Davis Family Funeral Home in Dewey in 2011, Gary was a cheerful worker who never complained and kindly greeted all who stepped through the funeral home's doors. He directed guests and families to where they needed to go, answered questions with kindness and showed godly love. He lived to minister to others and we miss him greatly.
Brenda is a registered nurse who worked at the JPMC hospital for about 10 years, then at Washington County Health Department for 18 years. Despite having given thousands of immunization shots, Brenda remains loved by those who know her.
Gary and Brenda's greatest pride and joy are their four children and ELEVEN grandchildren.
Carter, their eldest son, and his three siblings inherited their parents' hearts for service and all four chose careers that help people: Grayson is a hotel manager, Jeremy is a pharmacist, and Summer is an elementary school music teacher.
Mike L. Wilson, Office Manager - Walker Brown Chapel
Mike has been with us since 2006, becoming the Office Manager in July of 2008. He is a retired school teacher who spent 29 years in the teaching profession with 23 of those years at Bartlesville Mid-High School. Mike was born and raised in Chelsea, OK, graduating in 1975 and continued his education at Claremore Junior College (Rogers State University) before graduating in 1979 from Northeastern State University in Tahlequah with a BS Degree in Education. Being in the Bartlesville community for over 30 years, he feels it a privilege to work with your family in your time of need.
Deanna joined Davis Family Funeral Home in October 2018. She spent nearly 2 decades in the newspaper and magazine industry. She and her husband, Bob, have lived in the Bartlesville most of their lives. They have 3 children: David, 28; Melissa, 24; and Grace, 13; as well as 4 grandchildren: Quaid, Hazel, AJ and Lincoln. Deanna enjoys helping families, greeting visitors, answering phones, and supporting the office.
David Shannon, Funeral Staff and Ambassador
David Shannon is husband to Sharon, and a gentleman. He likes to hunt, stay busy, preferably outdoors.
Stan Peterson, Licensed Funeral Director & Embalmer
Stan earned his degree in mortuary science with honors from Kansas City Kansas Community College. He is a licensed funeral director and embalmer in Oklahoma and Kansas. Stan and his wife, Marilyn, moved to Bartlesville in 2013, following 23 years of funeral service in Colorado. The Petersons enjoy participating in local church and community activities, as well as spending time with family and friends. Stan is proud to share his experience with the professional and caring staff of Davis Family Funeral Home.
Grayson and Lisa Davis
Grayson and Lisa have 4 beautiful children: Emma, Sadie, Jonathan and Levi. Grayson and Lisa met in Stillwater while attending Oklahoma State University. Go Pokes!
Grayson works in the hotel industry and is currently the General Manager at the Hilton Garden Inn at the Tulsa airport. His career has taken his family on many wonderful adventures to Texas, Ohio, and California; but there is no place like home and they are happy to be living in Oklahoma close to their families.
Jeremy and Crystal Davis
Jeremy and Crystal are the parents of Braeden and Liam. Crystal grew up in Bartlesville and her large family includes her beloved granddad, Bill Ruggles. Jeremy is a pharmacist in Tulsa, Crystal is a professor teacher at a OSU satellite campus, and both stay extra busy tending to their land and animals.
Gabriel and Summer Bostick
Summer Bostick is the only daughter of Gary and Brenda Davis. Throughout school she was also known as “the Davis boys little sister”. She attended Dewey schools throughout elementary and high school and graduated in 2001. While in Dewey schools she enjoyed any program that involved music: Band, Jazz Band, Stage Choir and Concert Choir. Her love of music led her to the University of Arkansas to pursue a degree in Music Education. In 2006 she finally got her dream job teaching Kindergarten through 2nd grade music. Not only does she get paid to "play all day", she also gets paid in hugs from her wonderful students.
Summer now lives in Arkansas. While in college she met an “Arkie”, fell in love with him, and settled down in the good old Natural State. Seven years of marriage and three children later, Gabe, Summer, big brother Elijah and twins Caleb and Rachel are always having fun on the go. They come to Oklahoma often to spend time with the Davis family. They also love watching sports and call the hogs often! Woo Pig Sooie! Razorbacks! (Okay, they also root for OSU whenever they can).
Lou is a fellow member of the Dewey Lions Club and a good guy all around. He retired from Phillips Petroleum Company, but he and his wife Billie stay busy with grandkids, lots of volunteer work and helping others in the community. Lou helps care for his neighbors by serving at funerals by Davis Family Funeral Home.
Jim Eppler is the lucky husband of Ruby. He likes to work and spend his time and energy on those people he cares about. So he not only does laundry, he cooks and take care of all of us fortunate enough to know him. He's worn many hats including law enforcement, but to us, he may look like a tough guy, but he's got a soft heart inside.
Roberta Mages is a fellow member of the Downtown Dynamic Kiwanis of Bartlesville and retired banking professional from the local credit union. She manages the front office, greeting visitors and assisting Carter with lots of paperwork.
