James "Jimmy" Edd Vaughn

James “Jimmy” Edd Vaughn, 82, of Bartlesville, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 12, 2024. A loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, James was born December 14, 1941 to Lamar and Bonnie (Bunting) Vaughn in Russellville, Arkansas. James finished his elementary years in Arkansas. The family moved to Copan, OK for his junior high years and then to Dewey, OK during his high school years, where he graduated in 1960. His first car, a 1954 maroon Ford, was what possibly peaked his interest in cars and he quickly learned to work on them himself. Over the years he was his own repairman and shared his ability to fix anything with his family and the church. There wasn’t a thing that he couldn’t fix. On October 5, 1962, James married the love of his life, Shirley Ann Cowan, and they have enjoyed 62 years of loving marriage. James worked in the Foundry as a furnace operator and memorable work history includes, J & S Foundry in Dewey, that became 5 Star Foundry, part time with Bluestem Foundry and he finished his career with Superior Casting in Dewey. James was a provider and spent most of his career life working two jobs. As their son Tim became interested in motorcycles, James caught that bug himself and later purchased a street bike and enjoyed riding come rain or shine. James enjoyed watching birds and going on drives with Tim looking for deer and other wildlife. Being faithful members at New Hope Church Jimmy and Shirley enjoyed attending and serving in their home church. They also enjoyed fishing, working in their garden, and watching old westerns. They also loved and enjoyed their grandchildren and spending many memorable moments along the way on short trips and weekends and the grandchildren staying over at their house. James was loved and will be dearly missed. James is survived by his loving wife, Shirley; son, Tim and wife Tammy Vaughn; daughter/granddaughter Brandi and husband Andrew Cole; sisters, Brenda Vaughn Wood and Valarie K. Vaughn and husband Philip Warnick; grandchildren, Devin and wife Lori Just, Desirea Bruner, Windell Bruner and Katie Vaughn; great-grandchildren, Brittany, Liam and Kross; and a host of other family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Tammy Lyn Vaughn Bruner; and brothers, Bobby Gene Vaughn and Lamar Vaughn Jr. James’s family will receive friends on Wednesday, from 6-7 p.m., at the Davis Family Funeral Home & Crematory – Walker Brown Chapel, 918-333-7665, 4201 Nowata Rd, Bartlesville. Visitation will also be held on Wednesday from 10-8 and Thursday 9-1. Services will be held on Thursday, 2 p.m., at the Davis Family Funeral Home & Crematory – Walker Brown Chapel, with Brother Steve Hogue officiating. Interment will follow in the White Rose Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Carter Davis and the Davis Family Funeral Home & Crematory – Walker Brown Chapel.
