Alberta Jane Ishem

Alberta Jane Ishem, Child of God, of Bartlesville, OK, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 10, 2023 at the age of 82. Alberta was born daughter of Elijah and Mabel (Derrick) Glenn on November 25, 1940 in St. Louis, MO. She was raised and educated in the big city, and fondly remembered the way of life and how it differed from living in a small town. The family moved to Bartlesville around 1961 where Alberta went on to meet Robert Ishem. They united in marriage and were blessed with three children – Rhonda, Bruce, and Brock. Robert passed away a few years later in 1968, and Alberta worked hard to provide a good home for her family following his passing. Alberta worked at Kmart, the West Side Community Center, UPS, and retired from Phillips 66. She grew up Pentecostal and was a God-fearing woman who loved the Lord. Alberta was a good example to her children and was a wonderful mother. When asked about her role as a grandmother, her sons mentioned that, “We got all the whooping’s and the grandkids got all the LOVE.” When she had free time, you could find her playing Bingo three to four nights a week, fishing, or attending senior lunches and crafts at the Salvation Army. Alberta’s hobby was thrifting. She had a knack for knowing what everyone needed and their exact size. Those who knew Alberta more than likely picked up on a few of her Albertarisms such as: “Well this is my thing,” or “My deal is this.” Those who knew her best knew an honest opinion would follow shortly after those phrases. Alberta is survived by her two sons, Bruce Ishem and Brock (Hazel) Ishem; brother, Jerry Glenn; grandchildren, Marquise (Holly) Mayhew, Latoya (Bobby) Lee, Kayla Ishem, Brooke Ishem, Brigham Ishem, Shaylyn Ishem, and Aaron Dyes; great-grandchildren, Leonte Mayhew, Deonte (Kaylee) Mayhew, Braden Mayhew, Kerringhton Mayhew, Cayman Mayhew, Brice Lee, Brylon Lee, Jaiden Hill, Brandon Hill, Mason Dyes, Malakai Dyes, and Eryn Dyes; great-great grandchildren, Mila, Avery, and Hadley; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband Robert Ishem Sr., parents, Elijah and Mable Glenn, sister Mary Crane, daughter, Rhonda Mayhew, and great-granddaughter, Kerringhton Mayhew. Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 17 from 10-8pm and Friday, August 18 from 10-12pm at the Davis Family Funeral Home & Crematory – Walker Brown Chapel. Services will be held on Friday, August 18 at 2pm at the Miracle Temple Church of God in Christ, with Elder Lowell B. Nash officiating. Interment will follow in the White Rose Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Carter Davis and the Davis Family Funeral Home & Crematory – Walker Brown Chapel.
