Bea Jean Johnson

Beatrice Jean Johnson, 74, of Bartlesville, passed away Wednesday in Bartlesville. Bea as she was known was born the daughter of Merle (Doc) and Ethel Mae (Hill) Brantley on July 20, 1944 in Avant, OK. She was raised in Wolco, OK and graduated from Barnsdall High School in 1962. Bea was just 24 when she met Richard “Dick” Johnson within an eight hour romance were married in Miami, OK. In just a short amount of time they fell deeply in love and enjoyed twenty nine loving years of marriage together until Dick passed away in 1997. Once married they made their home allover due to Dick’s job with the railroad. Later Dick became a ranch foreman at Woolaroc and Bea a cook at the Lodge, during this time they lived on the ranch for several years. Once they moved back to town Bea worked as a store manager at Braums when it was on Frank Phillips, Niper and finally at Jane Phillips Medical Center where she retired. Bea loved her Lord Jesus Christ and was a member at the Dewey United Methodist Church. She cleaned the church for many years and enjoyed her many church friends. She had many hobbies including bingo, arts and crafts, garage sales and visiting with anyone. Most of all Bea loved her family, cooking for them and taking care of her grandbabies. She was dearly loved and will be missed by many. Bea is survived by her daughter, Keron “Denise” Johnson of Bartlesville, two grandchildren, Ariel Knapp and Jake of Independence, MO and Haley Cochran and Donnie of Bartlesville, two great grandchildren, Waverly Knapp and Drake Cochran and Honorary son Mike Simone of Bartlesville. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Richard Allen Johnson, brother Clarence Brantley and four sisters Virginia (Pinky) Barlow, Alma Cole, Keron Pryor and Stella Roberts. Bea’s family will receive friends at the Davis Family Funeral Home – Dewey Chapel, 918-534-3030, 113 S. Osage (Hwy. 75), Dewey, on Sunday, October 14, from 3-5 p.m. Visitation will also be held on Sunday from 12-5. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. on Monday, October 15, at the Dewey United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in the Osage Gardens Cemetery, Skiatook, OK.
