Charlene Cook

Charlene Cook, 84, of Bartlesville, went to her heavenly home on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, in Bartlesville. Charlene was born November 19, 1939, in Bartlesville, to Charles and Millie (Gassett) Bronson. In her youth, she attended Lincoln Elementary, Central Middle School, and then College High School, but she never graduated high school. Knowing the value of an education, Charlene earned her GED when she was in her 50s and was happy about this achievement. Her work history included a job at a Bartlesville nursing home, but she found her true passion in loving children. Charlene was employed as a school cafeteria worker for several years at Lincoln Elementary School and then Central Middle School. She was also a Sunday School teacher at Pentecostal Tabernacle for many years. Most everyone knew her as “Grandma,” including fellow residents and friends she made at her nursing home, Heritage Villa. Many people have shared testimonies of her reading the Bible and teaching Bible studies with them. She loved the Lord and was eager to witness to others. Charlene served as a wonderful, godly role model to her children and grandchildren. God had a plan. She raised her grandson, great-grandson and two great-granddaughters. She gave her time and attention to her family and was always there as a listening ear and a prayer warrior for them. Through her steadfast faithfulness to serve God and attend church, many members of her family are Christian believers, blessed by God. Survivors include her son, Donnie Cook and wife Pamela; a nephew, Billy Butcher; eight grandchildren, Danny Fugate, Melinda Hammons and husband Thomas, Charlene Boucher and husband Michael, Sabrina Fugate, James Cook and wife Carlee, David Cook, Kelsie Atkins and husband Justin, and Brandon Cook; 27 great-grandchildren, Jessica, Dannyelle, Mileena, Danny Jr., Kayleigh, Aubrey, BreAnna, Tylor, David, Anthony, Katrina, Corben, Mataya, Quentin, Victoria, Kaeden, Donoven, Trenton, Anna, Paisley, Spencer, Chandler, Harper, Maverick, Genesis, Willow, and Waylon; and 11 great-great-grandchildren, Stella, Jensen, Charlotte, Amelia, Gracelynn, Ellie, Isabella, Valkyrie, Loretta, Levi, and Lyla. Charlene was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Millie Bronson; a daughter, Connie Cook Fugate; a sister, Norma Smith; and two great-grandchildren, Logan Dewey, and Marcus Fugate. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday at Pentecostal Tabernacle, 1822 NW Lupa St., Bartlesville, OK 74003. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, also at Pentecostal Tabernacle, with Reverend Edwina Kidd officiating. Burial will follow at Dewey Cemetery.
