Charlotte Jean Johnson

Charlotte “Jean” Johnson, lifelong area resident, died Monday, July 26, 2021, in Bartlesville. In her 76 years, Jean loved but she was loved more by those around her and she was a treasure who will be dearly missed. Charlotte, or Jean as she was known, was born the daughter of William Marshall and Eva Mae (Smart) Williams on August 29, 1944, in Bartlesville, OK. She was raised and educated in Dewey, graduating with the Class of 1962. Jean excelled in her business courses and won shorthand and dictation competitions. Joe Johnson was Jean’s high school sweetheart and they were united in marriage on Sept. 11, 1962, in Bartlesville. The young couple made their home in Dewey, raising their four children before moving north to Copan. Jean was a loving mother who stayed home to care for her children and their many friends. After 54 years of loving marriage Joe preceded her in death in 2016. Jean’s passions in life centered on her children and grandchildren. She was a mother to everyone - lunch was always ready for them to rush home from school with all their friends every day. The kids were all too happy to volunteer her for everything under the sun from school trips to functions and from fundraisers to projects. Jean did everything with Joe, they loved to have the grandchildren over all the time. Sleepovers at Grandma’s house was expected on a regular basis by the great grandkids who looked forward to this special time with Grandma. Jean is survived by her loving children, Danny Johnson and Crystle, Dee Anna Johnson, Tammy Johnson, and Larry Johnson and Dixie; sister Ann Green; 10 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren plus one on the way; special lifelong friend Bonita McGrew; and Hercules the little red dog. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Joe, and two brothers Frank and Garry. Jean’s family will receive friends at the Davis Family Funeral Home – Dewey Chapel, 918-534-3030, 113 S. Osage (Hwy. 75), Dewey, on Sunday, from 3-5 p.m. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. on Monday, at the Dewey Cemetery, with Pastor Casey Parham officiating.
