Dolores Ann Stanberry

Dolores Ann Stanberry, longtime area resident, died Wednesday, January 10, 2024, in Bartlesville. The loving wife and mother was 88 when she received her eternal reward in Heaven. Dolores was born the oldest daughter of Loyce and Ethel (Lewis) Hardy on January 28, 1935, in Denison, TX. She was the oldest sibling so she was blessed with quality time spent with her Aunt Geneva and Uncle Bud. She loved them dearly. Once graduated from Denison High School in 1952, Dolores went to work at the telephone company. One evening she caught the eye of a young Air Force Airman, James (Bugs) Stanberry, while he was cruising main street. Bugs had the good fortune to meet her and on January 24, 1955 they were married in Denison, TX. Bugs and Dolores returned to Dewey in 1956 where they raised their family. Dolores worked at Cities Service before attending Bartlesville Beauty College. She operated her beauty salon out of her house for many years. Later she went to work at Dr Lee Vineyard’s office before retiring. She was married to Bugs for 67 years. When their kids were young, the family enjoyed camping, water skiing and taking yearly vacations. Once retired, Bugs and Dolores spent many winters in south Texas escaping the chill of Oklahoma winter. Dolores loved to travel and Bugs went along, taking several cruises and visiting Australia, Switzerland, Germany to name a few. She was a wonderful mother, Nana, and Nana2. She enjoyed playing cards, games and attending the grandkids/great grandkids many activities. Dolores loved to work in her backyard and had prettiest flower garden around! She loved to bake, watch Hallmark movies and cheer for the Kansas City Chiefs. She often said she was blessed with two great sons-in-law. She was very strong in her faith and loved her First Baptist Church friends! She led a very full and active life. She will be missed by all. We love you Mom/Nana/Nana2. Dolores is survived by her two daughters, Sabrina Rickman and husband, Stan, Lisa (Bun) Rhodes and husband Greg; four grandchildren, Keri Mullen and Steve, Scott Ames and Melinda, Jeffrey Rhodes and Alexandra, and Tyler Rhodes and Natalie; and great-grandchildren, Chase, Gunter, Grace, Gavin, Carter, Taylor, Fiona, Oliver, Theo, Parker and Baby Rhodes due in March. She is also survived by her two younger sisters, June Ragsdale and Sandy Berry and husband Sonny. She left behind many great friends that checked on her daily. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Bugs and grandson, Kevin Rickman.
