Donald Wayne Chuculate

Donald Wayne Chuculate, 64, of Bartlesville, died Thursday in Bartlesville. Don was born the son of Taylor and Melinda (Beamer) Chuculate on November 28, 1953, in Tahlequah, OK. He grew up in the Tahlequah area and later attended the Seneca Indian School in Seneca, MO. Don grew up with his two cousins who became and remained his best friends and brothers for life: Mokie and Chuck. Don enlisted in the US Marine Corps and served his enlisted period before returning home. While on the job, he met a beautiful coworker named Becky, and with her love for talking and his gift of being a good listener, they quickly fell in love and married on November 10, 1979, in Miami, OK. They made their home in Bartlesville. Don started his 25-plus year career with the City of Bartlesville where he enjoyed the many friends he made over the years, and retired before he was ready due to health reasons. Don had many passions in life including fishing, and talking about fishing. He and Becky liked to go for long drives and junkin’ along the way. He was always on the lookout for toys and gifts for his eight grandchildren who he adored. Everyone loved Pa and his big basket of toys that he rewarded good behavior with. The grandkids visited daily and Don would oftentimes spend countless hours out by the pool, just watching them swim and play. Don often visited one special duck at the duck pond that would make its way to Don to be carried around like a small dog - the family has a special picture of him carrying around his special duck that friends enjoying seeing to believe the incredible tale. Don was a regular at the ARC (now Employability) thrift store where he would take the grandkids on shopping adventures. He will be dearly missed by those that knew and loved him. Don is survived by his loving wife of the home Becky; two daughters, Anna Chuculate, and Kristin Sanchez and Fabian, all of Bartlesville; two brothers, Levi Johnson and Doneen of Locust Grove, and Michael Chuculate of Tahlequah; three sisters Cinda Chuculate of Tahlequah, Linda Keener and Henry of Stilwell, and Denise Greer of Ft Gibson, OK; two special brothers, “Mokie” Greg Tom of Pryor and “Chuck” James Handle of Bartlesville; mother in law Faye Weaver of Galena, MO; and eight grandchildren, Sophia, Alex, Ezekiel, Gabriel, Nataly, Aralynn, Josie and Jophes. He is preceded in death by his parents, daughter Nikki Chuculate, one brother Johnny Chuculate, one sister Donna Chuculate, and father in law Warren Weaver. Don’s family will receive friends at the Davis Family Funeral Home – Dewey Chapel, 918-534-3030, 113 S. Osage (Hwy. 75), Dewey, on Monday, July 16, from 6-8 p.m. Graveside services will be held 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 17, at the Ochelata Cemetery.
