Freddie "Fred" Eugene Toney

Freddie “Fred” Eugene Toney, 83, a lifelong resident of Copan, joined his beloved wife Carol June Toney in heaven on Monday, October 21, 2024. Fred was born June 27, 1941, in Copan, OK, to Earl Edward and Liza Faye (Forrester) Toney. He attended Copan schools and graduated from Copan High School in 1959. After high school, he began his 20-year employment with Reda Pump and started his family. He married Marilea Holland in 1960 and to this union two daughters were born, Debra and Brenda. A hardworking entrepreneur, Fred owned and operated several businesses throughout his life. He owned T & H Electrical Heating and Air and did air-conditioning repair work for 10 years. He was also an owner and operator of H & T Tank Truck, and owned Copan Marine from 1990-2005. In 2007 he purchased Cove Bait and Tackle and then in May 2015 he purchased Dobbie’s Bar. Fred never retired and continued working his entire life. After five years of dating, Fred married Carol Dobbs on February 19, 1997, in Miami, OK, and they made their home west of Copan. In his spare time, Fred enjoyed fishing, horse races and bowling. His family have fond memories of enjoying bologna sandwiches and kissing catfish while fishing with their father on Copan Lake, and Fred navigating the Caney River in their boat. Family was so very important to Fred and he enjoyed cheering on his grandkids in their ballgames and the Truitt boys’ micro races. He was eager to attend their birthday parties and holidays. Fred loved his family and they cherish many fond memories of him in their lives. Survivors include his two daughters, Debra Sue Sipes, and Brenda Lea (Kyle) McCollough; stepson, Bob (Sue Mulcahey) Doane; stepdaughter, Shelli (Jerry) Goolsbey; two sisters, Freda Earlene Jackson, and Doris Faye (Everett) Roper; seven grandchildren, Ryan Riggs, Brittany Bailey, Tanner Sipes, Travis Williams, Amber Truitt, Kendal Brown, and Jessica Doane; 13 great-grandchildren, Adelaide, Annorra, Abrham, Brooks, Mackenzie, Tucker, Tenley, Hudsyn, Masyn, McCoy, Shepherd, Jocilea, and Fletcher. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Carol June Toney; brother, Ervin Leroy Toney; and grandson, Brennan Mitchell Hall. Private family services will be held at a later date.
