Georgia Bernice Friedman

Georgia Bernice Friedman of Bartlesville gained her heavenly wings on Sunday, November 5, 2023, at 2:15 a.m. at The Journey Home in Bartlesville, OK. Georgia was born August 20, 1923, in Rogersville, TN, to James and Gertrude (Tunnell) Colston. She grew up in Port Clinton, OH. Georgia married the love of her life, Paul Friedman, on May 18, 1946, in Sandusky, OH, and they shared more than fifty-seven wonderful years together. Georgia and Paul moved from Sandusky, OH, to Bartlesville, in 1958. They had four sons. Georgia began working as a professional secretary at Phillips Petroleum Company in 1959 and loved her career until her retirement in 1984. She and Paul continued their life in Bartlesville. Georgia lived a full and vibrant life. She had just celebrated her 100th birthday on August 20th, with her sons and their families. Georgia had a passion for fashion, and especially loved her hats. Anyone who ever even casually met Georgia, knew she had four sons: Tom, Tim, Ted, and Thad. She was so proud of her boys and spent her earlier years attending their sporting events. Georgia was later the best Nanny to her grandchildren. Georgia never met a stranger and had many friends. Georgia was long-time member of St. John Catholic Church and was very active in their women’s organization. She was also active in the Jane Phillips Society, Desk and Derrick Club, and Tuesday Club. She was a fan of and sold Mary Kay cosmetics for many years. Georgia is survived by her four sons, Thomas Friedman and his wife Julie of Flowermound, TX, Timothy Friedman of Fort Worth, TX, Theodore Friedman and his wife Karen, of Bryant, AR, and Thaddeus Friedman and his wife Mary of Bartlesville, five granddaughters Kerriann Friedman, Stephanie Modkins and her husband Jeremy, Tiffanie Evans and her husband Justin, Emily Friedman, and Lauren Kitchel and her husband Garret, and two grandsons Jacob Friedman of Rogers, AR, and Parker Friedman and his wife Gisell of Plano, TX.; six great-grandchildren, sister-in-law Anne Colston of Port Clinton, OH, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. Georgia was preceded in death by her husband, Paul, her parents, Gertrude and James Colston, her sister, Thelma Colston, her brothers, James Colston, and Kenneth Colston. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and the family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m. A rosary will also be said on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the Davis Family Funeral Home and Crematory – Walker Brown Chapel, 918-333-7665, 4201 Nowata Rd, Bartlesville. Funeral Mass will be held Thursday at 2:30 p.m. at St. John Before the Latin Gate Catholic Church. Final committal rites will be accorded in the Memorial Park Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Carter Davis and the Davis Family Funeral Home and Crematory – Walker Brown Chapel.
