Gilbert Murrel Milford

Gilbert Milford, 85, of Bixby, OK, peacefully passed away in the hospital on March 25, 2024, surrounded by loved ones. Gilbert was born on January 07, 1939, to Edna Lorene and Veachel Murrel Milford with his twin sister Normia at the family home in an area known as Hog Shooter Creek. Gilbert was 1 of 5 children. As a child he loved to spend time on his grandfather Tennant’s farm. Gilbert adored his grandfather and looked up to him; he would say that he wanted to be a rancher just like his grandfather. After Gilbert graduated from College High School in Bartlesville in 1957, he worked for Cities Service. During this time he married his high school sweetheart, Delores on June 19, 1959. He was then drafted into the Army in the fall of 1961, and he went on a tour to Germany to serve as an infantry man. He came home in 1963 and went back to Cities Service. Gilbert & Delores went on to have two children, Jeffrey and Donna. Gilbert retired in 1996 after 35 years of service. While retired, Gilbert had time to pursue his love of fishing, bee keeping and deer hunting, as well as spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren and a great-grandchild. Gilbert was preceded in deatth by his parents, Murrel and Lorene; sister, Normia Ashley; and brother, James Milford. He is survived by his loving wife, Delores Milford; son, Jeff Milford; daughter, Donna and husband Beto Armendariz; sisters, Darlene Barkema, and Elaine Thomas; as well as his five grandchildren, Jeremy and wife Jessica Milford, Jacob Milford, Mia Armendariz, Aidan Armendariz, and Alaina Armendariz; and 5 great-grandchildren, many nieces, and nephews. Gilbert loved his family; he cherished being able to spend any time that he could with them. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew Gilbert. Visitation will be held from 10-8 Friday, March 29, 2024, at Davis Family Funeral Home & Crematory – Walker Brown Chapel, 4201 Nowata Road, Bartlesville, OK 74006, 918-333-7665. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 30, at Davis Family Funeral Home & Crematory – Walker Brown Chapel with Pastor David Dillon officiating.
