Harold LeRoy Moore

Harold LeRoy Moore, age 81 passed away Friday, August 26, 2022, surrounded by his devoted wife of nearly 62 years, his children and grandchildren by his side. Harold was born to Henry Lee and Marie (Butcher) Moore on October 24, 1940, in the “Township of Bigheart” Barnsdall, Oklahoma. Harold began his education at Highland School and later graduated from Barnsdall High School in 1958. On November 21, 1960, he married the love of his life, Betty Jean Moody. Together they raised three wonderful sons, Mark, Mike and Tony Moore. During their marriage they lived in Wyoming, Louisiana, and Texas before making their final move back to Oklahoma in 1965. Harold worked for Phillips Petroleum in Wyoming, Texas and Louisiana. He worked with seismometers measuring seismic waves and converting them into electrical signals. Once they moved to Oklahoma, he spent 14 years as a fireman with the Bartlesville Fire Department. As a side job he welded on his days off from the fire department. In 1980 he decided to go into business for himself and established Harold Moore Welding. After approximately 36 years, Harold retired from welding to spend more time with his family. Harold enjoyed his time on his family homestead raising cattle and enjoying the outdoors. Although quiet in nature, Harold enjoyed telling his grandchildren about his time growing up surrounded by the Osage Hills. He also enjoyed his morning coffee and breakfast with old friends. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Harold is survived by his wife of almost 62 years, Betty Moore of the home Three sons: Mark and Linda Moore of Collinsville, OK: Mike & Jerri Moore of Dewey, OK, Tony & Tanis Moore of Skiatook, OK, one brother, Virgil Moore of Reno, Nevada; 6 grandchildren Kelly Mounce, Kristie Moore, Amy Hodges, Blake Moore, Preston Moore and Kennedy Moore and 5 great grandchildren, Mason and Miles Mounce, Kellan and Ellinor Hodges and Blakeleigh Moore and countless nieces, nephews and friends. Memorial services will be held at 1:00pm on Thursday, September 1, 2022, at the Dewey United Methodist Church in Dewey, OK. Dr. Rev. Rusty Husted, and Brian Lawrence will be the officiant. Burial will take place immediately following the service at A.J. Powell Memorial Cemetery in Hominy, OK. In lieu of flowers you may donate in memory of Harold Moore to the Dewey United Methodist Church 618 N. Delaware, Dewey, OK 74029. Services are under the direction of Carter Davis and the Davis Family Funeral Home and Crematory-Walker Brown Chapel.
