Jack Herbert Miller

Jack Herbert Miller, 76, went to be with God and his loving wife Carol on July 31, 2017, just 27 days after she went to heaven. Jack was born Dec. 19, 1940, in Great Bend, KS, to Orie Herbert and Ed Louise Miller. The family moved around some, but ended up in Blackwell, OK where Jack grew up and graduated high school. Jack married Madelyn "Carol" Miller Nov. 25, 1961, at First Baptist Church of Ponca City. They moved to Bartlesville in 1966 after he got a job with Phillips Petroleum Co. where he worked for 35 years as a Research & Development technician, until he retired. They lived here for the rest of their lives, and were married for 55 1/2 years. His wife and daughters were Jack's whole world. He loved spending time with them all, helping to coach their Little League teams and still enjoyed seeing the other girls on those teams around town decades later. He shared his love of the outdoors with his girls as they were growing up. His next great loves came many years later in the form of grandsons, five of them. He was extremely proud of his family and shared that pride with everyone he met. Jack was one of those people who could do absolutely anything he wanted to. If you needed to know how to do something, he always had the information you needed. Or, if you needed him, he'd be there to help you out. He was the most helpful and reliable person you would ever meet, and always had a story and a joke to tell. He could make you laugh, no matter how mad or sad you were feeling. The world was a brighter place because of Jack. Jack is survived by daughters Sheryl Hamilton and husband Boyd of Calera, OK, Carla Walsh of OKC, and Darla Miller of OKC; five grandsons: Connor, Chase and Cooper Hamilton, and Jackson and Mason Walsh; brother Frank Miller and wife Greta of Rockwall, TX; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two infant sisters, wife Carol and infant son Stephen. Visitation will be held Wednesday 1-8 p.m. at the Davis Family Funeral Home, 918-534-3030, 113 S. Osage (Hwy. 75), Dewey. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 3, at the Davis Family Funeral Home Chapel, with Chaplain Dan Grimes officiating. Interment will follow at the Ethel Reece Cemetery in Barnsdall. Services are under the direction of Carter Davis and the Davis Family Funeral Home.
