Joycelyn "Jane" Brewster

It is with great sadness that the family of Joycelyn Jane (Teehee) Brewster announce her passing on September 24, 2024, at her home in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Joycelyn (known as Jane) was born May 24, 1935, to Alfred Lee Teehee Sr. and Havil Elizabeth (Harpe) Teehee in Sedan, Kansas. Jane graduated from Peru High School as valedictorian in 1953. She married Willard C. (Bud) Brewster Jr. on November 4, 1953. From this union five children were born. Their names are Monnie K. Brewster, Lonnie K. Brewster, Gail A. Swaim, Peggy J. Mumma and Tony R. Brewster. Jane was a homemaker and raised her family in the Sedan and Peru area. Later, Bud and Jane retired, making their home in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Her husband Bud preceded her in death, along with her mother, father; brothers, John Teehee Sr., Alfred Teehee Jr., Paul Teehee, and Vernon Neal Teehee; and her sister, Francis Teehee. She is survived by her sisters, Marilyn Cross of Bartlesville, OK, Sharlene Keet of West Melbourne, FL; and her brother, David Teehee of San Marcos, TX. Also surviving are her five children, Monnie K. and wife Lana of Sedan, KS, Lonnie Brewster and Darlene Bowers of Bartlesville, OK, Gail Swaim and Darrell (Jugg) Swaim of Dewey, OK, Peggy Mumma and husband Steve of rural Dewey OK, and Tony Brewster and wife Debbie of Chesterfield, VA. She is survived by seven grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren. Jane enjoyed her flowers, and her hobbies included Mexican train dominoes and playing board games,with her children and her grandchildren. She proved to be pretty good at cornhole, too. Her passions in life were her children and grandchildren. She attended athletic events, recitals, and programs too many to count for nearly sixty years. Her artistic skills aided her in teaching many of her children and grandchildren to draw and play piano, as reflected in her two most taught piano tunes; "Chopsticks" and "Boom-de-ada", and her teaching everyone's favorite song, "The Donut Song". She was like a second mother to about half of Chautauqua and Washington counties, including family, friends and relatives. Services will be held 2 p.m. on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, at the Sedan Assembly of God Church with Pastor Cinda Osburn officiating.
