Karen Lynn Hopkins

Our beloved wife and mother, Karen Lynn (Coyle) Hopkins, saw Jesus face-to-face on June 19, 2026. Waiting to greet her in heaven were her parents, Eugene and Alice Sue Lynn Coyle; infant brother, Gary; sister, Debi Bahm; father- and mother-in-law, William and Lola Mae Hopkins; sister- and brother-in-law, Patricia and Verne Moore; and nephew, Steve. Left to continue her legacy of love are her husband of 54 years, Max, of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, daughter, Sera Johnson, and husband, Darren, of Spring, Texas; son, Jonathan Hopkins, and wife, Laura, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; and daughter, Hannah Johnson, and husband, Brad, of Castle Rock, Colorado; her precious grandchildren Julia; Elyse and husband, Tyler; Joshua, Audrey, Ethan, Barrett, Ava, Levi, Emmitt, and Harper; and great-granddaughter, Jessie Lynn; brother, Mike Coyle, and wife, Mona; brother-in-law, Victor Bahm; brother-in-law, Marty Hopkins, and wife, Catherine; brother-in-law, Doug Hopkins, and his wife, Ann; 10 nieces and eight nephews; her “favorite-est” and caregiver, Shauna Caylor; and an army of friends. Born April 11, 1953, in Oakland, Karen relished being a California girl. She grew up enjoying the company of her two younger siblings and came to know Jesus Christ as her Savior through the influence of her maternal grandparents, Virgil and Ruby Loman. She loved sewing her own clothes, playing the accordion, sharing the gospel, and creative writing—a gift that served her well through life. During her sophomore year of high school, Karen’s family moved to Eufaula, Oklahoma, and she met Max, the love of her life. They married May 13, 1972, after their freshmen year at Oklahoma State. Karen’s life revolved around family. Her first two children were born while Max worked at the Mullins Ranch in Red Rock, Oklahoma. Fueled by her entrepreneurial spirit, she bought a daycare in Ponca City. The family eventually moved into the upper level, and Max started his career at Conoco in the early 80s. Two of the many cherished family memories include her giving birth to Hannah there and several years later Sera and Jonathan “sledding” their baby sister down those stairs in a laundry basket. Karen’s skills as a seamstress enabled her to make clothes for her family, and she loved creating meals and inviting extended family and friends to her table. She was a proud, front-row cheerleader at every recital, performance, or sporting event featuring her kids and later her grandchildren and for all the teams Jonathan coached. Her experience with Jesus as a child deeply shaped her family’s faith and inspired her to share His love with kids in her community through bus ministry and youth Bible studies. Being married to a handy man, Karen found home projects and remodeling opportunities for him after work and on the weekends, and she would paint, stain, and wallpaper right beside him. She loved to decorate for each holiday, especially Christmas, and amassed an impressive collection of throw pillows, rotating for every occasion. When Max transferred to Midland, Texas, and Dubai, Karen learned to navigate dust storms and traffic circles respectively. As her nest emptied, she rekindled her love of writing and authored books, one of which called The Devil Chasers, earned a fan in actor Steven Baldwin. In 2006, Karen’s life was transformed when Sera shared with her mom her first essential oil, and it changed the trajectory of their family forever. Her personal testimony with the Young Living products was so profound, she became a traveling evangelist sharing her story and belief God desired healing for us all through the Cross and His Creation. She followed Gary Young down the Amazon River and around the globe learning and teaching and anointing. When Max retired from ConocoPhillips, they team-taught Raindrop Technique, Chemistry of Essential Oils, and Emotional Release. Rarely at a loss for words, even more books poured from her, and Karen co-founded Growing Healthy Homes in 2008 to help others achieve their dreams as published authors. The abundance she knew in all areas of life was easy for her share. No matter the need, she gave whole heartedly, and she enjoyed lavishing gifts—her love language—on her family and friends, with a mantra of “you can’t out-give God.” Karen’s life is an example of the ripple effect one “yes” can have on eternity. Her legacy of love and a passion for God’s Word and His children will continue to inspire and guide those who loved her.
