Keith Herbert McDowell

Keith Herbert McDowell, 89, of Bartlesville died Thursday, March 12, 2015, in Tulsa. Keith was born on September 11, 1925, in Bartlesville, the son of Floyd and Wanda (Dowler) McDowell. He had two sisters and he was raised and educated in Bartlesville graduating from College High. Keith was inducted into America’s Navy in 1943 and served during WWII on the USS Sentry mine sweeper as a motor machinist mate until his discharge in 1946. Keith returned home and was united in marriage with Betty N. Stewart on September 28, 1946. Keith built the family a small home in 1948 that was added onto over the years and they remained there until moving to Tulsa in 2014 to be with their son. Keith worked in construction with Betty’s stepfather before working for himself and was the contractor on the first subdivision for Phillips employees. Keith loved the Lord and was very active in his church Grace Epworth. He and Betty loved to do things together. For many years they bowled, played cards and danced as often as possible. Betty remembers he was especially fond of the Jitterbug. Keith was always working around the house, tending to his vegetable garden or using his carpentry skills in his woodshop. He was a good provider who loved his family and was liked by all. Keith is survived by his wife Betty of the home; two sons, John Allen McDowell and Anita of Bartlesville, and Kenneth Wayne McDowell of Tulsa; one sister Linnia Bates and Bill of Tulsa; three grandchildren, Kimberly Hall and Drew of Owasso, Scott McDowell of Bartlesville, and Kylie Easterwood and Kevin of Owasso; five great grandchildren, Hayden and Hadley Hall, Cal and Emmie Easterwood, and Khloe McDowell. He is preceded in death by his parents, two sons Gary Edward McDowell and Edward Allen Mcdowell, and one sister Bonnie Zimmerman. Keith’s family will receive friends at the Davis Family Funeral Home, 918-534-3030, 113 S. Osage (Hwy. 75), Dewey, on Monday, March 16, from 6-8 p.m. Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 17, 2015, at the Memorial Park Cemetery, with Rev. Paul Overholt officiating. Military honors will be provided by the James H. Teel American Legion Post 105 Honor Guard. Services are under the direction of Carter Davis and the Davis Family Funeral Home.
