Lawrence Cecil Horn Jr.

Lawrence Cecil Horn Jr., 90, of Dewey, went to Heaven on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at Journey Home in Bartlesville. Lawrence was born May 20, 1933, in La Harpe, Kansas, to Audrey Adelaide (Baker) and Lawrence Cecil Horn Sr. He attended school in Iola, Kansas, and joined the U.S. Navy at the age of 17, serving in Korea. Once he was honorably discharged and returned home, he married Helen “Delores” Henderson. Their marriage started off with a bang, as the couple wed on July 4, 1954. They enjoyed 69 years of loving marriage. Lawrence enjoyed working with his hands. He attended mechanic school in Kansas City and then the couple returned to Iola, Kansas. In 1962, they moved their family to Dewey where they have lived ever since. They have been longtime members of first Dewey Christian Church and then Town and Country Christian Church. Lawrence worked a variety of jobs over the years and retired from TRW Reda Pumps. Lawrence enjoyed fishing, camping, and cutting wood. He was a little ornery and people loved him. He and Delores enjoyed road trips and traveling to states out West and to venture to the East, as well. Lawrence also enjoyed sitting on the porch and visiting with the neighbors. He enjoyed life and was a kind, loving husband, father, grandfather and great - grandfather. Family was important to him. He loved them and they loved him. Lawrence is survived by his wife, Dolores Horn; daughter, Patricia “Patty” Hays and husband Tom; son, Rodney Horn; sister, Betty Bushey; five grandchildren, Shanna Parham and husband Casey, Trina Wickham and husband Noah, Amy Barr-Rust, Jennifer Williams, and Kelly (Horn) Elvington; 12 great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and four siblings, Helen Miller, Sue Edwards, Ronald Horn, and Richard Horn. Visitation will be held from 10-8 on Thursday, May 16, 2024, at the Davis Family Funeral Home – Dewey Chapel, 113 S. Osage Ave., Dewey, OK 74029, 918-534-3030. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 17, 2024, at Dewey Cemetery with Pastor Casey Parham officiating.
