Leona Edwards

Leona Carrie Edwards, went to be with her Lord and Heavenly family on May 2, 2024 at the age of 91. She was born April 7, 1933 to Victor A Seibold and Viola M (Smith) Seibold. She graduated from Dewey High School in 1951 and married W. H. (Buddy) Edwards on May 16, 1951. They moved to El Paso, TX while Buddy was in the Army. In 1953, they returned to the Copan/Dewey area where they have lived since. Leona was a member of the Dewey Christian Church, Dewey Eastern Star Lodge No. 312 and Rebekah Lodge No. 168. Her dedication was not limited to working as a secretary for Kennedy Farmers Insurance and Public Service Co of Oklahoma where she worked from April 1961 to Nov 1992, but she also volunteered at Bartlesville Kiddie Park and Special Olympics. After retirement she found joy in spoiling her grandkids and feeding her great-grandchildren every morning before school. She also enjoyed camping with her special niece Rita Whitehead and her husband Rick and their children Regina and Ryan. She enjoyed simple pleasures working crossword puzzles, singing in the church choir, growing a garden, and having a contest with her daughter to see who could get the first tomato. Leona is survived by her loving husband of 73 years, Buddy, of the home, two daughters, Carla Cooper and husband Terry of Broken Arrow, OK and Becky Reynolds and husband Steve of Bartlesville where they resided at the time of her passing, two grand-daughters, Sarah Parrish and husband Daniel, Holly Williams and husband John, great-grandchildren, Autumn Travis and husband Ross, Colby Williams and wife Kallie, Chassidy Williams, Abigail Parrish, Caitlyn Parrish and London Wedel, great-great-grandchildren, Ashlyn Leigh Travis and Tucker Wayne Williams. She was also cherished by thirteen other nieces and nephews, her very best lifelong friend since elementary school, Shirley May and a host of family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Victor and Viola Seibold, all her brothers and sisters, Edcher Seibold, Ethel Thompson, Wilma (Billie) Wands, Robert (Bob) Seibold, Mary Tomlinson, and Dorothy Bennefield, two grand-children, Vicki (Cooper) Wedel and Matthew Cooper, and 5 nieces and nephews. Leona’s family will receive friends on Wednesday, from 6-8 p.m., at the Davis Family Funeral Home – Dewey Chapel, 918-534-3030, 113 S. Osage (Hwy. 75), Dewey. Visitation will also be held on Wednesday from 10-8. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Dewey Christian Church, Mission fund for Cookson Hills Christian School and Hidden Haven which were dear to her heart – PO Box 640, Dewey, Ok 74029. To remember and honor Leona’s life and to see the impact she had on her family and friends, a Celebration of Life will be held 10 a.m. on Thursday, at the Dewey Christian Church, with Pastor Casey Parham officiating. Interment will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Carter Davis and the Davis Family Funeral Home – Dewey Chapel.
