Virginia Faye Sartor

Virginia Faye Sartor, 94, of Bartlesville, died Tuesday, June 11, 2024, in Bartlesville, OK. Virginia was born the daughter of Virgil Cecil and Sarah Louise (Tucker) Buchanan on January 12, 1930, in Holdenville, OK. She was raised and educated in Holdenville. From a young age she pursued her passion for music, singing in the school choir. One day she took notice of Larry Sartor, a young Soda Jerk at the local pharmacy. They were in the same grade at school. They quickly fell in love and were high school sweethearts, graduating with the class of 1948. Virginia fondly remembered his younger siblings accompanied them on their dates to the drive-in movies. Larry went on to further his education at Oklahoma A&M College (now known as OSU). On June 10, 1951, they united in marriage and made their first home in Borger, TX when Larry was hired by Phillips Petroleum Company. Their son, Gary, was born there on April 09, 1953. The couple was then transferred to Bartlesville where Donna and Judy were born. Virginia was a devoted Mother and Grandmother. She spent special one-on-one time with the kids and planned group activities, as well. As a family they took many memorable road trips to visit family. Six Flags Over TX, Branson and Silver Dollar City were a few of their favorite vacation spots. Virginia and Larry were devoted to their home church, First Baptist, and Virginia enjoyed singing in the choir and smaller ensembles. Once retired they travelled with the Phillips Credit Union Gold Club to faraway places like Scotland and Alaska. They went on riverboat cruises and regular cruises. Larry preceded her in death after 63 years of loving marriage on April 16, 2014. Virginia was a gifted shopper. She managed to seek out various knick knacks for her many and varied collections. Figure skating may have been her favorite sport and she enjoyed watching the Olympics skating competitions. She was an avid OSU sports fan and cheered for them, whether they were winning or losing. Go Pokes! Virginia was an amazing Grandmother and attended her grandchildren’s many activities. They will remember her handwritten letters and notes that usually included a picture Larry had taken. Most of all, she loved the Lord and will be dearly missed. Virginia is survived by her daughters, Donna Leming and Judy Crabtree; grandchildren, Tonya, Melanie, Noah, Chandra, Zac, Kirsty and Carley; great-grandchildren, Jagger, Huntly and Izora; and a host of other family and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Virgil and Louise; husband, Larry; son, Gary Sartor; and brother, Ralph Buchanan. Services will be held at 2:00 on Monday, June 17, 2024, at the Davis Family Funeral Home & Crematory – Walker Brown Chapel. Interment will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery.
