William "Buddy" Howard Edwards

William Howard ‘Buddy’ Edwards went to be with his Lord and Heavenly family on September 24, 2024, at the age of 96. He was born September 21, 1928, to Carl Edwards and Bessie P (Bricker) Edwards. He graduated from Copan High School in 1949 and married Leona C Edwards on May 16, 1951. He served in the Army during the Korean War and they moved to El Paso, Texas, where he was stationed at Fort Bliss until October 1952 when they returned to the Dewey/Copan area where they have lived since. Buddy was 32nd Mason and a member of Bartlesville Masonic Lodge, Dewey Eastern Star Lodge No 312, Tulsa Scottish Rite and a devoted member of Dewey Christian Church. During his years as a young man, he helped his father with racehorses, worked on the pipeline and became a welder. He worked at Scott & Hill Steel then at Superior Welding from 1977 to 1990 when he retired. After he retired, he found joy in fishing, camping and traveling. He also enjoyed watching OU Football and Softball and Dewey High School Softball, being one of their biggest fans. His greatest joys were his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and most recently, the two great-great-grandchildren. Buddy is survived by two daughters, Carla Cooper and husband Terry of Broken Arrow, OK, and Becky Reynolds and husband Steve of Bartlesville, where he resided at the time of his passing; two granddaughters, Sarah (Cooper) Parrish and husband Daniel, Holly (Little) Williams and husband John; great-grandchildren, Autumn Travis and husband Ross, Colby Williams and wife Kallie, Chassidy Williams, Abigail Parrish, Caitlyn Parrish and London Wedel; great-great-grandchildren, Ashlyn Leigh Travis and Tucker Wayne Williams. He was also cherished by thirteen other nieces and nephews and his church family and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife of 73 years Leona (Seibold) Edwards; his parents, Carl and Bessie Edwards; his brother, Carl Dean Edwards; and his sister, Ruth Ann Scott; two grandchildren, Vicki (Cooper) Wedel, and Matthew Cooper; and 5 nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Dewey Christian Church, Mission fund for Cookson Hills Christian School and Hidden Haven which were dear to her heart – PO Box 640, Dewey, Ok 74029. Buddy’s family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, October 1, 2024, at Davis Family Funeral Home – Dewey Chapel, 113 S. Osage Ave., Dewey, OK 74029, 918-534-3030. Visitation will also be held Tuesday from 10-8 and Wednesday from 10-1. Services and Masonic Rites will be held Wednesday, October 2, 2024, 2:00 PM at Dewey Christian Church with Casey Parham officiating. Services are under the direction of Carter Davis and Davis Family Funeral Home – Dewey Chapel.
