Amelia Ann Housby

July 1, 1957 - March 22, 2022

Amelia Ann Housby, 64, of Copan, passed away after a graceful and dignified fight with cancer in the early morning hours of Tuesday, March 22, 2022, wrapped in the love of her two children, Patrick and Sarah. Amelia was born July 1, 1957, in Dallas, TX, to Earl Boyd Goodman, Sr. and Betty Marvell (Parker) Goodman. She was a self-acknowledged Daddy’s Girl and a dedicated daughter to both of her parents, as well as a protective little sister to her big brother, Earl (Junior). She graduated from Derby, KS, High School in 1975. She married the love of her life, Jeffrey Wayne Housby on January 29, 1975, in Wichita where the young couple made their first home. The contract nature of Jeff’s employment afforded them the opportunity to live in several states, including: Colorado, Michigan, Texas and Virginia. We’ve been struck by how deeply our Mom touched all those she met. We’ve received so much love and encouragement from her family and friends as we all mourn the loss of our angel, ray of sunshine and prayer warrior. All describe her as a woman of great faith who lived her life to shine as an example of Godly character and values. She lived with a sureness and genuineness, always looking for opportunities to express her care and gratitude for those around her. Amelia was employed with Cessna Aircraft in Independence, KS for over twenty years. She served her community as a Big Sister in the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Oklahoma. She was a diligent employee and also enjoyed caring for her flower and container gardens, as well as her beautiful collection of well-loved houseplants. Amelia and Jeff enjoyed camping and fishing at the lake, motorcycle rides and shared the work of a vegetable garden. She was an avid crafter and known for her handmade beaded, cross stitched and crocheted gifts. Amelia was a wonderful dog mom and believed strongly in providing a home for animals needing one. She made many wonderful memories with her dogs throughout the years and most recently enjoyed spending time with Rio and received great comfort from his presence. Amelia is survived by her loving husband of forty-seven years, Jeffrey Housby; her mother, Betty Goodman of Dewey; her son, Patrick Wayne Housby of Lawrence, KS; and daughter, Sarah Ann Carpenter and husband, Jeffrey, of Champaign, IL; her brother, Earl Boyd Goodman, Jr. and his wife, Nancy of Wichita, KS; five grandchildren, Michael Ann Carpenter, Jace Jeffrey Carpenter, Anthony James Carpenter, Henry William Carpenter and Jon Osiris Carpenter; and special friends, Nancy Goodman, Monica Bassett, Rhonda Brewer, Randy and Tammy Strimple, Jim and Nicole Cobb, Mary Carpenter and Barb Lewis. Amelia’s husband Jeffrey said his goal now is to “not let her down,” and we will all be striving to fill some of the space that our Mom left in the world. Amelia’s family will receive friends at the Davis Family Funeral Home – Dewey Chapel, 918-534-3030, 113 S. Osage (Hwy. 75), Dewey, from 3-5 p.m. Sunday, March 27. Visitation will also be held from noon to 5 p.m. that day. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Oklahoma, Bartlesville, 320 Delaware Ave #7, Bartlesville, OK 74003; or to SPCA Animal Shelter, 16620 OK-123, Dewey, OK 74029. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, March 28, at East Bartlesville Christian Church. Interment will follow in the Spring Hill Cemetery in Dearing, KS. Services are under the direction of Carter Davis and the Davis Family Funeral Home – Dewey Chapel. Online condolences and remembrances may be shared at www.DavisFamilyFuneralHome.com.
