Carolyn Ishem, 75, of Bartlesville, died Thursday, March 7, 2019, in Oklahoma City. Carolyn was born the daughter of George and Jeurl (Zollikoffer) Ishem on August 13, 1943, in Cushing, OK. At a young age the family moved to Bartlesville and she attended Douglas High School. Carolyn was always considered everyone’s mother. When her kids were young, she stayed home with them. She started working full-time later in life and most recently worked at the Elks Lodge as a server and cook until she retired and moved to Oklahoma City in October 2018 to be closer to her granddaughter Aieshaa. Carolyn’s greatest passion was taking care of her kids and grandbabies and they loved her dearly. She cooked with love and she loved to cook for her family, enjoying the many extended family gatherings. With her friends she could be found playing bingo, one of her favorite games. Carolyn was a longtime member of Greater First Baptist Church where she worshipped her Lord and Savior. She will be dearly missed. She is survived by her five children, Linda Birch of Bartlesville, Donald Birch of Tulsa, Natasha Hester of Okla. City, Trudy Hester, and Troy Hester, both of Tulsa; one brother Eugene Ishem of Wichita, KS; as well as 18 grandchildren and 37 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and five brothers, Harry, Robert, George, Carl and Henry Ishem. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 10-8 at the Davis Family Funeral Home – Walker Brown Chapel. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. on Friday, March 15, at the Greater First Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the White Rose Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Carter Davis and the Davis Family Funeral Home – Walker Brown Chapel.
