Geneva Mildred Reese (nee Estes), born in Red Oak, OK (1927), died peacefully at Marwood Nursing and Rehabilitation Home in Port Huron, MI, on Jan. 19, 2022. She is predeceased by her husband Phillip (Holice Phillip), her sons Steve (Stephen) and Harold, grandson Jeffrey, brother Bill Estes and wife Rosetta, and sister Evelyn Craighead and husband Eugene. She is loved and will be missed by her two daughters-in-law Hazel Neely (Canada) and Marsha Reese, (CA); grandchildren, Bill Shepard (wife Cathy), Angela Shepard (partner Trevor), Michelle Taggart (husband Sean), Meredith Chopka (partner Paul), C.J. Bartaldo (wife Kelly), Christina Schaible (husband Loren); 11 great grandchildren; and four great great grandchildren. As well, her nieces, nephews and their families loved her and will miss her: Connie Standridge (husband Randy), Elaine Arnold (husband Chuck), Alan Craighead (wife Jeannie), Carol Ann Divin (husband Ben), and Jim Estes (wife Donna). Geneva spent most of her life growing up and living in Bartlesville, OK, with short times in California, Colorado and Idaho. She worked for Philips Petroleum and the U.S. Bureau of Mines from which she retired in 1971. She and Phillip loved to travel and explored every U.S. state as well as many road trips to Canada. And no matter where their travels took them, their faith went with them. Geneva was a devoted and committed member of the First Assembly of God Church, helping and working throughout the years in a variety of roles including church secretary, Sunday School teacher, friend and mentor to many. She often reflected on how much she loved being a part of a family musical trio which included her sister Evelyn and sister-in-law Rosetta. She and Phillip were also involved in missionary services. Her faith was the bedrock of her life. In 2001, Geneva and Phillip moved to Port Huron, MI, to be closer to their son Harold and family. She made many friends at Blue Water Lodge Retirement Home until moving to Marwood Nursing Home in 2020. She continued sharing her positive attitude and beautiful smile even during the last few very difficult years. She was truly the embodiment of love and grace. She will be reunited with her dear husband of almost 70 years at a graveside service taking place at 3 p.m. Friday, February 11, 2022 at the Dewey Cemetery with Dr. Darryl Wootton officiating. Services are under the direction of Carter Davis and the Davis Family Funeral Home – Dewey Chapel. Online condolences and remembrances may be shared at www.DavisFamilyFuneralHome.com.
