Judith "Judy" Kay Shrum

April 21, 1950 - November 2, 2021

Judy Kay Shrum, 71, of Ochelata, died Tuesday in Bartlesville where she was born and raised. Judy was born the daughter of Raymond Ray and Pauline Roberta (Youngblood) Shrum on April 21, 1950, in Bartlesville. She was educated in the Bartlesville area, where she met and later married Lester McCarty. The young couple made their home in Bartlesville and raised four loving children, Dianna, Marla, Carl, and Johnny. Although they later divorced, they remained good friends. Judy worked outside the home most notably at Jane Phillips Hospital as a CAN (Certified Assistant Nurse) and for 20-plus years as an in-home caregiver with AbilityWorks. She loved to work and was a faithful caregiver to her many clients, many of whom became like family to her. Judy’s passions in life centered around taking care of everyone, whether family or friend. It was simply in her nature to always be ready to help when needed. Over the years, Judy roped in her family for memorable trips to Branson. Her favorite part of their vacation was attending the many music shows that caught her fancy. In her free time Judy watched her favorite tv shows and played on her iPad. Judy was an avid gamer for many years, starting with her first gaming console by Atari and now with the many electronic devices that support her favorite games. Most of all she loved her family and taking care of them, chasing after grandkids and being active in their lives. Judy loved everybody with her whole heart - she always kept her cool and loved without judging. Judy is survived by the many loves of her life - her children, Dianna Sanders and Scott, Carl McCarty and Tammy, and Johnny McCarty and Debbie; six siblings, Linda Haner and Glen, David Shrum and Sara Lee, Carolyn Shrum, Darla Woods, Vicki Sebert and Elaine Ramos, grandchildren, Amber Brown and Chelsea, Brandy Trottingwolf, and Coree West; great-grandson Gabriel Blankinship; great-nephew Antonio Machuca, and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, daughter Marla West, brother Delbert Shrum, sister Phyllis Davis, and grandson Kyler West. Services will be held 2 p.m. on Tuesday, at the Davis Family Funeral Home & Crematory – Walker Brown Chapel. Services are under the direction of Carter Davis and the Davis Family Funeral Home & Crematory – Walker Brown Chapel. Online condolences and remembrances may be shared at www.DavisFamilyFuneralHome.com.
