Neldeen Bowen
December 17, 1937 - May 9, 2022
Neldeen (Mayhugh) Bowen, 84, longtime resident, died Monday in Bartlesville. She led a full and fruitful life, and her smiles will be missed by all who loved her. Neldeen was born the daughter of Artie Roy and Ella Josephine (Walrod) Mayhugh on December 17, 1937 in Prescott, KS. Growing up she loved spending time outdoors with her father and brother J.W. coon hunting and fishing. Neldeen graduated from Prescott High School in 1955 and shortly after, married Jesse Kincaid. Together they had four children: LeAnn, JoAnn, Marion and Mike. They made their home in Kansas City before relocating to Bartlesville in 1964. Neldeen was lucky to find love a second time with Waddie Bowen – they enjoyed fishing trips to Old Mexico for months at a time. Waddie preceded her in death in 1996. Neldeen went on to form a longtime friendship with Doug “Barndoor” Barnett and they enjoyed more than 20 years together before tying the love knot. They led a quiet but active life on the farm and enjoyed fishing, going to the casino, and spending time with grandkids and great grands. Barndoor preceded her in death in 2019. Neldeen was a lifelong caregiver whether it was through working in home health or caring for her grandchildren. She simply loved to serve others and put a smile on their faces. No surprise then that Neldeen was known for her smiles, infectious laugh and spark. She had an adventurous spirit and took many memorable trips, usually with family - most recently to Hawaii with other favorite trips to Alaska and Mexico. Her favorite times were spent with grandchildren playing cards and they called her “GmaDeen”. She loved her family wholeheartedly and was deeply loved by them. Neldeen is survived by her children: LeAnn Smith, Joann (Jim Brown) White, Marion (Merybeth) Kincaid and Mike (Dianne) Kincaid, 10 grandchildren, Kristi (Chris) Phelps, Shiela Upton, Brandy Price, Kanyon Kincaid, Hunter (Amber) Kincaid, Tanna (Dusty Weaver) Kincaid, Kendall Kincaid, Josh Kash, Danielle (Jordy) Bowlin and Sarah (James) Bowling, 22 great grandchildren, six great great grandchildren and Boy the dog. She is preceded in death by her parents, brother J.W. Mayhugh, and three husbands, Jesse Carl Kincaid, Waddie Bowen, and Doug “Barndoor” Barnett. Neldeen’s family will receive friends at the Davis Family Funeral Home & Crematory – Walker Brown Chapel, 918-333-7665, 4201 Nowata Rd, Bartlesville, on Friday, from 6-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the The Journey Home, The Caney Zoo or the WCSPCA.
