Rita Margaret Raines Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Rita Margaret Raines, lifelong Bartlesville resident, was 68 when she died Saturday in Bartlesville. She will reunite with her beloved husband Ron and Heavenly Father. Rita was born the daughter of Billy Shrum and Margaret Gaynell (Russell) Cooper on February 5, 1954, in Bartlesville. She attended Bartlesville schools including Sooner High and grew up surrounded by love alongside her five siblings. Rita was blessed to find her ONE at a young age and tied the love knot with Ronald James Raines on December 18, 1970. Two beautiful children were born to this union - Little Ron and Kim. The family made their home in Bartlesville and Rita was a wonderful mother. In addition to making their house a home, Rita always helped provide for her family. She worked at Reda Pump, cleaned homes and the last years of her career, she worked at First Presbyterian Church in Bartlesville where she made and enjoyed new friends. Rita and Ron were members of the Ramona First Baptist Church where they enjoyed the fellowship. After 45 years of loving marriage Ron preceded her in death on September 7, 2015. Rita and Ron were a sweet couple who enjoyed being together. They shared a passion for drag racing and had more than 70 race cars they won and bought over the years, fixing them up and selling along the way. As a family they enjoyed trips to the mountains and visited numerous national parks, enjoying outdoor adventure and God’s handiwork. The kids remembered many fun trips with four wheelers and dune buggies. They also liked to watch NASCAR races. Most of all, Rita loved her children and Ronnie (Little Ron) remembers cruising around with mom and listening to her favorite ’80s music. Mother and daughter Kim became best friends and they were garage sale buddies, never missing an opportunity to score a bargain. Rita was an artist who loved to paint, especially trains which she would give to her father as gifts. She was creative and enjoyed her many crafts. She also enjoyed funny animal videos online, and her sweet smile was a sight to behold. Rita was one of a kind and will be dearly missed. Rita is survived by her children, Ronnie Raines and Kim (Mike) Crawford; grandson Michael Crawford Jr.; siblings, Susie (Mark) Wheat, Don (Carolyn) Shrum, Billy (Crystal) Shrum, Kathy Cooper and Trish Craighead; and beloved cat Elliott. She is preceded in death by her husband, parents and sister Carolyn Shrum. Services will be held 2 p.m. on Friday, at the Davis Family Funeral Home - Dewey Chapel, with Rev. Orville Moody officiating. Services are under the direction of Carter Davis and the Davis Family Funeral Home – Dewey Chapel.
