Summer Davis Bostick

November 23, 1982 - May 13, 2022

Summer Joy (Davis) Bostick, 39, of Tontitown, Arkansas, passed away May 13, 2022. She was deeply loved on earth, but joins her father Gary and Christ her Savior in her heavenly home. We trust that she’s singing with the angels – she had the voice of one. Summer was a joy to all who were blessed to know her. Summer was kind and always sought to be a willing instrument of God’s love on earth, to nurture His creations. This was no surprise since she was raised by two faith-centered parents, grew up with three big brothers who loved (and teased) their ‘lil sister, and made dear friends who became the sisters she got to choose. Summer cherished all of her friends, especially her best friend and love of her life, John Gabriel “Gabe” Bostick. She was a loving mom to three beautiful children, Elijah James, 12 and twins, Rachel Elizabeth and Caleb Garrett, 10, who were her pride and joy. Summer was born the daughter of Gary Wayne and Brenda Fay (Wedding) Davis on Nov. 23, 1982, in Bartlesville, Oklahoma . She was the youngest of four children and grew up in the Nazarene Church, first at Dewey Nazarene, and later, she joined the youth group at Bartlesville First Nazarene. Summer attended Dewey public schools where she excelled academically but her favorite subjects were stage choir and band. At school, she made lifelong friends, graduating with the Class of 2001. She had a spirit as beautiful as her sweet smile and sparkling eyes. God blessed Summer with a lifelong love and talent for music. She started piano lessons in grade school and in middle school, she discovered her gift for playing the French horn (which she passed on to her eldest child Elijah). She also took dance lessons til music became the main pursuit of her teen life. From Dewey, Summer moved to Fayetteville, Arkansas, to be part of the Razorback marching band. Summer was a hard worker who received not one, but two scholarships to UofA. She graduated with a bachelor of arts degree in Music Education. Later, she earned a Masters in Music Education in 2012. But the best part of Summer’s college years was meeting Gabe through her friend Karri and Gabe’s brother James. Summer knew Gabe was the one God intended for her but still made sure that she brought him home so her parents could give them their blessing. Summer and Gabe were married July 16, 2006, at the beautiful Thorncrown Chapel in Eureka Springs, surrounded by family and friends. It was the happiest day of her life, along with the births of her most precious babies. Summer became a music teacher at Gentry Primary School. She loved sharing her passion for music with hundreds of students who were lucky enough to have a teacher who constantly looked for new ways to have fun and grow in the arts. She was an outstanding educator, loving teacher, and a great friend to many co-workers. In recent years, Summer found another avenue for nurturing young minds and hearts – she became a part-time instructor at the Kumon Math & Reading Center of Springdale where her boss and mentor Srividya became another treasured friend. There, Elijah, Rachel, and Caleb blossomed and, with a lot of diligence and hard work (wonder where they got that from), they excelled and grew in knowledge and self-confidence. Recently, Elijah completed the Kumon Reading program and the twins were recognized for being in the top 5 high percent scorers in state testing. Summer made sure to post and share her excitement on Facebook where her friends and especially, extended family, could share her joy. Summer loved to discover new places, from exploring caves and hiking in the great outdoors to spending hours at museums and performing arts halls. She enjoyed reading, personal devotions and fellowship. As a teen, she got to visit Singapore to see her first nephew Austin and experience many firsts: her first plane ride, her first cruise, maybe her first ride on an elephant, and a taste of real Asian hawker foods. She wasn’t fearless but she was brave and put her trust in her Father God. Of all the places Summer loved visiting, she especially enjoyed her annual vacations with Gabe, kiddos and her mom, which almost always included visiting her aunts, cousins and their kids in Missouri. Summer cherished those precious trips and time spent with her loved ones, making scrapbooks of her favorite photos and memories. In recent years, she was thrilled she and Gabe found a church home and loving community at Cross Pointe Community Church in Tontitown, where they served as co-leaders of a Community Group. Summer found peace and joy in the fact that she and Gabe had found a church they could raise their kids to grow in their knowledge and love of our Heavenly Father. Please pray for His continued grace and love in their lives. Summer is survived by her husband John Gabriel and their three children Elijah James, Rachel Elizabeth and Caleb Garrett; mother Brenda and brothers Carter and Jacqi, Grayson and Lisa, and Jeremy and Crystal; mother-in law Barbara and Dwayne Smith; siblings in law, Barbara and Bill Durham, Cathy and David Roland, James, Luke, and Josh and Britney Bostick; and nephews and nieces: (Davis) Austin, Emma, Amrose, Sadie, Braden, Jonathan, Liam, Levi, and (Bostick) Bradley, Chelsea, Nick, Brittany, Mary, Emma, Brennan, and Nolen, as well as many grandnephews and grandnieces. Summer’s extended family included her aunts Trinka, Margie, Shirley, and many cousins and their kids. She also leaves behind her lifelong friends Lyndsey and Cassandra and best friend from college, Karri. Summer is preceded by her father Gary, maternal and paternal grandparents, especially Grandma Wedding who doted on her youngest grandchild, and many dear uncles and aunts. Summer, the beloved daughter, wife, mother, teacher and friend, will be dearly missed by all. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made for the Bostick Children’s future college expenses (with plans for a joint 529 fund to be set up), c/o Davis Family Funeral Home, 113 S.
