Billie Marie Bowden

Billie Marie (Elsey) Bowden, 90, passed away on November 14, 2025 at the Journey Home in Bartlesville, OK. Billie was born on December 14,1934, to Robert O. and Lois B. (Crocker) Elsey of Stilwell, OK. Billie grew up and attended school in Stilwell, OK, graduating from Stilwell High School in 1952; she was very proud of the fact that she graduated one year early as a 17-year-old Junior. She attended Tri-County Tech in Okmulgee upon graduation studying business. During her working career, she attended Tri-County Technology Center Bartlesville completing certification for Medical Transcription and Unit Secretary. She began her working career and worked in the Bartlesville area for Cities Services Oil Co.; Phillips 66; Bartlesville Tag Agency; Dewey Public Schools and several years at Jane Phillips Hospital before retiring to travel and spend time at home. Outside of work, Billie enjoyed working in the yard, playing games with family and friends; but she had a talent and passion for cooking and singing, and sometimes would do both simultaneously. This passion was part of her upbringing, as well as her commitment to Christ and her church. She was a faithful member of several Southern Baptist Churches in Dewey and Bartlesville area. She faithfully taught children and adult Sunday School for many years, as well as participating in several choirs, ladies’ trios and singing special music on many occasions. Billie was proceeded in death by her parents: Robert O. and Lois B. Elsey; her siblings: John W. Elsey; Mildred (Mid) Elsey-Wainscott; Robert U. Elsey; Mary L. (Elsey) Brewer; and Joe L. Elsey. Billie is survived by her children: Deborah L. McQueen, husband Bill; Chuck Kerns; and Linda Kerns, all of Bartlesville. Grandchildren: Leah (Linde) Aguilera of Tucson, AZ; Megan McQueen, husband Matt Reiter; Craig McQueen, both of Las Cruces, NM; great-grandson: Arantxo “Arrow” Linde, wife Hope, of Wichita, KS; as well as several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Journey Home, 900 NE Washington Blvd, Bartlesville, OK 74006 or HOPE Clinic, 101 S. Sooner Rd. Bartlesville, OK 74003. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 26th at the Davis Family Funeral Home & Crematory – Walker Brown Chapel, Bartlesville.
