"Court" Courtney Grandstaff

Charles Courtney Grandstaff – “Court”, age 72 passed away on July 5, 2026 in Bartlesville, OK. Court was born on November 17, 1953, in Bartlesville, OK to Charles and Irene Grandstaff. He graduated from Dewey High School in 1971. Court was employed by TRW Reda Pump for many years. He married the love of his life who he met at the race track, Sarah Bell in April of 1985. Court was quite the guy! If you were lucky enough to have met him, you absolutely knew this! You also knew that if he got you on the phone or caught you in town to chat that you were also in trouble because you most definitely would be late for whatever you had planned next! Court didn’t meet too many people he didn’t love. He also had a love of racing- his personal career started in 1971. Court lived and breathed racing. He also took some bad spills in his driving career, ultimately making it where he couldn’t sit in the driver’s seat any longer, but that never stopped his love for the sport. He drove the country with the Trop Arctic Racing Team for years, winning many races, but more than anything he was making relationships and doing what he loved! Court helped many drivers throughout his time racing, but there are a few that were probably his favorites- his son Jim Bell, his grandson Edmund Bishop and his great grandson Easton Bishop. Guaranteed these three were at the top of his list of best drivers he ever got to work with! Again, Court traveled many miles pulling a sprint car, spent many late nights in hotel parking lots getting ready for the next day and just spending time with those he loved- doing what he loved! To know Court was to know a smiling face, to know he was going to slap you on the back and say, “How are ya old Buddy” and that if he didn’t have a racing t-shirt on things were serious! Court also loved Sarah undoubtably. They were together every single day driving hundreds of miles in the big rig, eating lunch with all the kids at the kitchen table, watching the same show on tv or if you knew them well arguing over something always! He loved Sarah beyond measure that’s for sure. Court was preceded in death by both parents Charles and Irene Grandstaff along with both of his sisters, Kris and Terri, as well as many friends. Court is survived by his loving wife, Sarah Bell, her two children Jim Bell Jr & wife Denise Bell & Cheryl Bishop. His grandkids; Edmund Bishop, Sydney Nichols, Chaney Tate & Sheridan Gouge, along with a bunch of grandkids who always put a huge smile on his face! Not only was Court survived by his big family, but he was survived by his love of racing and so many friends he would call family he met while racing! Courts celebration of life will be held by Davis Family Funeral Home in Dewey, OK- starting with a come and go time on Monday July 13, 2026, from 6-8pm. Please come to tell stories and chat with the family if you’re available to do so. His service will be grave side the following morning July 14, 2026, at 10am at the Dewey Cemetery. Please note the only attire Court would want- Race Track Attire! There will also be a memorial race or similar event taking place at the old Dewey Speedway in late September or October of this year for anyone who is available to attend. Court started his racing career at Dewey Speedway and that is where it ends! In lieu of flowers, we ask that you donate to the Steve King Foundation.
