Dorene "Helen" Yearout

Helen Yearout, 93, of Bartlesville, was in Owasso on Thursday when she rejoined her husband James, daughter Robin and twin sister Ellen in Heaven where they are now all together, rejoicing in His presence. Helen was born the daughter of Bert and Martha Jane (Crossfield) Bowie on July 15, 1929, in Altoona, KS. She was raised in Altoona and was very close to her non-identical twin sister Ellen - they were best friends and just recently Ellen preceded Helen in death. Growing up, Helen spent summers in Bartlesville with her Aunt Dolly and Uncle Guy. Guy introduced her to James Yearout, one of the young men he supervised at National Zinc. They quickly fell in love. Just a short time after she graduated from Altoona High School in 1947, the young couple tied the love knot on May 17, 1947, and made their forever home in Bartlesville. Jim was an only child for the first 8 years until Robin joined the family. Together, they enjoyed time spent with their parents and remember fondly fishing and road trips to visit her sisters in Colorado and Kansas. Helen loved big family get-togethers and reconnecting with everyone she loved. Together Helen and James enjoyed Saturday night dances at the Moose and Elks Lodges. Not too long ago, Helen fondly reflected on her 65 year marriage and the life they built together. James preceded her in death in 2012. Some might say Helen was passionate about shopping. Or perhaps it was the company that made it more than a simple fun pastime. Every Saturday she headed out with her daughter Robin for full-day shopping excursions. Daughter-in-law Cheyrl joined them once a month, recounting that the ladies’ marathon day started with shopping, then lunch, more shopping, then dinner, and finally closing out the stores for more shopping. Throughout the years Helen spoiled her miniature poodles Tuffy, Misty and Tammy, and most recently, grand puppy Niki. Helen is survived by her son Jim Yearout and wife Cheyrl. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, brother Richard, and sisters Kathleen and Ellen, and one sister in childhood. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 10-8, at the Davis Family Funeral Home & Crematory – Walker Brown Chapel, 4201 Nowata Road, Bartlesville, OK. Services will be held on Wednesday, at 10 a.m., at the Davis Family Funeral Home & Crematory – Walker Brown Chapel, with Evangelist David Bycroft officiating. Interment will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Carter Davis and the Davis Family Funeral Home & Crematory – Walker Brown Chapel.
