Herbert Erfurdt

Herbert Lee Erfurdt was born on January 12, 1941 in Washington, Missouri. He lived in San Antonio, Texas with his mom and dad, Herbert and Betty until moving to Sweeny, Texas in 1953. He graduated from Sweeny High School in 1959. He enlisted in the United States Navy upon graduation and completed boot camp in San Diego, CA. He married the love of his life, Sharon Lucille Carter, in April 1961. The couple completed their tour of duty in the Navy in 1978. He advanced to the rank of Senior Chief in the military. Their voyage took them to stations in San Diego, California; Millington, Tennessee; Albany, Georgia; and Key West, Florida. Along the way they brought three wonderful children into the world; Kenny, Lucy and Debbie. Herbie was always a magnet for great, kind hearted people, as were his children. His children all found wonderful life partners and his grand-children are all working on the same. Chief “Uback”, as he was dubbed in the Navy, went to work at Applied Automation upon completion of his 20 year tour of duty. He worked at this location as the name changed from Applied Automation, to Hartman-Braun and Siemens until his retirement in 1981. He enjoyed his work as a production supervisor at this Bartlesville hallmark. Dad enjoyed his time with the Elk’s Lodge, dancing with mom and with Nick and Lucille Carter, his in-law’s, in the 1980’s. In 1988 he fulfilled a lifelong dream and obtained his BS in Management from Oklahoma Wesleyan University. It took him nearly 18 years, but he managed to graduate from college before his youngest daughter did so from Oklahoma State University. Herbie prided himself in helping his family and others. This is a trait which has been installed in the entire family. Mr. Erfurdt’s greatest loves were his children, grand-children, great grand-children, working on cars, watching every western movie ever made and fixing everything he could in his spare time. He also enjoyed gathering whatever he could find for his booth at Gan’s Mall. Dad was also an aspiring artist and painted several pictures for family, friends and co-workers. Herb also often played Santa for his employees and family. He loved to give and make others happy. As a husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather Herb is the greatest gift that God could ever give. Herbert is survived by his wife Sharon; three children Kenny Erfurdt and Karri, Lucy Hinton and Cliff, and Debbie Erfurdt and Kim Montgomery; 6 grandchildren, Chris Hinton and Victoria, Jennifer Hinton, Lindsey and Taylor Lambert, Nick Hinton, Timothy Erfurdt, and Corey Erfurdt and Michalla Mullis; and 8 great grandchildren Everett, Anah-Claire, Noah, Eliasson, Crosby, Emerson, Brenwell, and Theo. He is also survived by his siblings Roger Erfurdt and Brenda, and Mary Peters and Roy. He is preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers Carl Erfurdt and Harry Thomas Erfurdt. Viewing will be held Sunday, October 30th, 2022 from 12pm to 3pm at the Davis Family Funeral Home and Crematory – Walker Brown Chapel, 918-333-7665, 4201 Nowata Rd, Bartlesville. Herbert’s family will receive friends on Sunday, from 3-4 p.m, A rosary will be said on Sunday at 4pm. Funeral mass will be held 10 a.m. on Monday, October 31st, 2022 at St. James Catholic Church. Interment will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery with military honors. Services are under the direction of Carter Davis and the Davis Family Funeral Home and Crematory – Walker Brown Chapel.
