Mrs Imogene "Jean" Ruth Harvey

Imogene “Jean” Ruth Harvey, 82, of Dewey, died Wednesday evening in Dewey. Jean was born to James Walter and Izora Elizabeth (Cochran) Dillard on April 7, 1932, in Milton, OK. She was raised in Stilwell, OK. Jean was staying with her cousin in Tulsa when she went on a blind date and a few months later, she was united in marriage with Louis Harvey. They made their home in Tulsa and had four children. In 1967 the family moved to Bartlesville where Jean realized her dream of becoming an licensed practical nurse. She graduated from Tri County Tech and started her career with Jane Phillips Hospital; after 12 years there she joined Dr. Moreland as his office nurse for seven years before retiring in 1994. Louis and Jean celebrated 64 years of marriage Sept. 16. For family vacations, Jean and Louis loved to camp with their children and later, their grandchildren. The retirees took memorable trips to many places including Alaska, NE states and Mexico. She loved her family, cooking, crafts and painting. Her favorite holiday was Christmas. She collected Santas and had hundreds of them. Jean was a member of Town & Country Christian Church for over 25 years. She was a loving mother and grandmother who showered her kids and grandkids with hugs. “Every child needs someone on their side and I’m that someone”. Jean is survived by her husband Louis of the home; three children, David Harvey and Ruby of Ochelata, Vicki Kerr and Ed of Bartlesville, and Terri Hinderman and Jerry of Fort Worth, TX, eight grandchildren Kimberly Grahm, Joshua Harvey, Ryan Harvey, Jason Canady, Travis Canady, Jamie Meisenheimer, Robyn Riley and Bryan Bagby; 22 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, one daughter Karen Bagby and nine siblings, Ellis Dillard, Laura Flynn, Harold Dillard, Lawson Dillard, Wilma DeCuir, Earlene Collins, Bill Dillard, John Dillard and Buford Dillard. Jean’s family will receive friends at Davis Family Funeral Home, 918-534-3030, 113 S. Osage (Hwy. 75), Dewey, on Sunday, Sept. 28, from 4-6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Rivercross Hospice, PO Box 35973, Tulsa, OK 74153, or to Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, 322 8th Ave #700, New York, NY 10001. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 29, 2014, at Town & Country Christian Church with Pastor Jason Canady of Bixby officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
