Joyce Elaine English

Joyce Elaine English (Nanny) peacefully passed away on Monday February 12th at home with her husband of 58 years by her side. Joyce was born February 16th, 1947, to Jesse and LaEuna Cossey in Dewey, OK. She married Bobby Dean English on June 12th, 1964. They were married for 58 years before her passing and made their home in Bartlesville Oklahoma. During her time of life, she worked at the Bartlesville Tag Agency for several years. She later obtained her cosmetology license. Joyce loved doing peoples’ hair and loved to make them feel good about themselves. She also loved the beauty shop gossip. After years of working in the beauty shop, she was battling some major health complications and decided to continue doing hair out of her home. Joyce also loved to take vacations with her husband and her family. When the grandchildren and great grandchildren were born, her favorite thing to do was to spoil them to the fullest. Joyce and Bobby Dean have been members of North Point Church for over 40 years. They have done everything from working with the youth groups, to cleaning the flower beds. Joyce also loved to sing and play the piano any time she had the chance. Through all the trials in her life her faith in God never staggered. Her family takes peace in knowing she is no longer suffering and she was ready to see the Lord. Joyce is survived by her husband Bobby English and her two children, Danny English and Melissa Thornbrugh and her husband Charles Thornbrugh. Her three grand kids Tayler Barker and her husband Roy Barker, Bailey Thornbrugh and his wife Chandler Thornbrugh, and Macie English. Her three great grandkids Charlie, Emery, and Cash. Joyce is proceeded in death by her first son Ronald Dean English, brother Bobby Lynn Cossey, father Jesse Cossey, and mother LaEuna Cossey. Joyce’s family will receive friends on Thursday, February 15, from 6-8 p.m., at the Davis Family Funeral Home & Crematory – Dewey Chapel, 918-534-3030, 113 S Osage Avenue, Dewey. Visitation will also be held on Thursday from 10 a.m. -8 p.m. Services will be held on Friday, February 16, at 10 a.m., at North Point Assembly of God in Dewey. Interment will follow in the Dewey Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Carter Davis and the Davis Family Funeral Home & Crematory – Dewey Chapel.
