Judy Ann Chaney

Judy Ann Chaney, 76, of Wann, passed away on Monday, June 1, 2026, in Bartlesville. Judy was born February 18, 1950, in Bartlesville, to William Elmer and Mary Lou (Ward) Dean. She graduated from Copan High School in 1968 and then married her high school sweetheart, Jim Chaney, who remained her best friend until he passed in 2017. A year after high school they started their family with the birth of Rhonda and then later Angela and Jimmy. Judy was a homemaker while her children were young and then became a substitute teacher and teacher’s aide at the school for a few years. After that, she was employed at JD Young until her retirement. Family was her whole life. She was a “daddy’s girl” her whole life! In addition, her grandchildren were so very important to her. She loved listening to the little ones telling stories and she always had her candy dishes full and ready to offer them treats. She enjoyed watching her grandchildren at the rodeo. Judy absolutely loved Halloween, scary movies, and going on spook walks. She never missed an opportunity to prank and scare her family members, especially her grandchildren. She also enjoyed riding scary rides and roller coasters. Some of her other pastimes include dancing and playing cards, especially pitch and solitaire. She is survived by her two daughters, Rhonda Martin, Angela Lowrey, son in-law Jim Martin, and daughter in-law Jackie Chaney; two sisters, Betty Jo Trimble and husband Leroy, and Anna Marie Purett and husband Larry; eight grandchildren, Levi Anderson, Bryce King, Blake King, Michele Hawkins, Hunter Lockman, Corbin Lockman, Jimmy Chaney, and Waylon Chaney; 18 great-grandchildren, of which 15 are girls and 3 are boys, with an additional boy on the way. Judy is preceded in death by her best friend and former husband, Jim Chaney; her parents, William and Mary Dean; her son, Jimmy Don Chaney; and her brother, Steve Dean, and son-in law Jesse Lowrey. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Wann Fire Department, 110 W. Main St., Wann, OK 74083, or the Wann Cemetery, Wann, Oklahoma. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 4, 2026, at the Wann Cemetery with Mr. Shawn Trimble officiating.
