Mrs. Kimberly Kay Brown Mitchell

Kimberly Kay Brown Mitchell, 54, of Dewey, died Tuesday morning. Kim was born in Borger, Texas, on August 17, 1957, the daughter of Johnnie Brown and Norma Sissel. She was raised and educated in the Dewey Public Schools. Friends of Kim will remember her as a feisty, athletic, energetic, fun-loving, sometimes stubborn, always caring person. Before graduating from high school in 1975, she spent much of her time on the softball field or the basketball court. Kim worked hard at all she did and tried everything. She enjoyed woodworking, gardening, playing any game involving any sort of competition, and laughing her infectious laugh. Her work included everything from laying tile to arranging flowers. On a good weekend you might catch her refinishing her dining room floor, shooting 100 free throws (without missing, of course – that would mean starting over), or maybe changing the oil in her car. Kim loved to find out what she could do by doing it by herself. Determined and strong, she was able to take care of herself and everyone around her. No one was a stranger to Kim and she considered everyone in need to be a dear friend. There is no way of knowing how many lives she touched in such a short time here on earth. Kim is survived by her father and his wife, Johnnie and Bess Brown of Ponca City; her daughter Darcy Swanson and her husband Brandon of Bartlesville; her brother Todd Brown of Bartlesville; two grandsons, Gage Swanson and Eli Swanson, both of Bartlesville; her dearest friend Michele Eversole of Houston, Texas; lots of family; and plenty of friends . She is preceded in death by her mother Norma Sissel (Wilson) and her sister Connie Brown. The family will receive friends at the Davis Family Funeral Home, (918-534-3030), 113 S. Osage (Hwy. 75), Dewey, on Thursday, May 3, 2012, from 6-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to M.D. Anderson Cancer Research, PO Box 4486, Houston, Texas 77210. Memorial services for Kim will be held on Friday, May 4, 2012, at 10 a.m. at Sooner Park Wesleyan Church. Pastor Greg McNall will officiate.
