Lisa Kay Henderson

Lisa Kay Henderson, 52, of Bartlesville, was surrounded by love when she died Sunday in her hometown. She will be missed on earth but joins her beloved husband Ira, dad William and friends up in Heaven. Lisa was born the daughter of William Calvin and Sharon Kay (Thornbrugh) Gay on December 13, 1969, in Bartlesville. The family lived in rural Okessa and she attended elementary school in Barnsdall. The family moved to Bartlesville and she graduated with the Bartlesville High School class of 1988. She enjoyed running around with her friends and talking on the phone. Being as independent as she was, Lisa moved out on her own with friends and enjoyed life, music and making memories. Her mother Sharon remembers clearly when Lisa announced she met her cowboy version of Tim McGraw - Ira Henderson. We’re not sure if she fell in love with that black cowboy hat first or Ira, but they complemented each other in every way. Lisa loved to stay home and he was always on the go. Their story together was cut short when he went first, but Lisa continued on with the help of her family and friends. She continued to love and miss Ira all the days of her life. For the past 19 years Lisa worked for the Oklahoma Department of Human Services (DHS) at the Bartlesville office helping countless families and individuals, both young and old. Throughout her life, Lisa’s generosity was unmatched. She cared for everyone - she helped aging family members remain independent. She loved having a big family and getting together with them, whether at the lake, in their homes or around town. Her heart was even bigger than her smile. Pets were a constant from flying squirrels to regular dogs, she loved them all. She enjoyed traveling and taking family and friends with her on special trips, and she was looking forward to an upcoming girls’ trip to Rome. Her nieces loved time spent with Lisa at her house and having her attend their many activities, they knew they could count on her support. In good times and tough times, Lisa loved and was loved. Lisa is survived by her mother Sharon (Dan) Carr; brother William C (Denise) Gay; 5 nieces, Trinity Henderson, Trisha Scullawl, Faith Oliver, TayLynn Scott and Tricia Gregory; nephews Dakota Scott and Dayton Carr; great niece Zoe; and great nephew Jensen. She is preceded in death by her husband Ira; father William; brothers, Marcus Sutton and Michael Carr; maternal grandparents Bill and Betty Thornbrugh; paternal grandparents Sam and Ruth Gay; and aunt June Gay Smith. Lisa’s family will receive friends at the Davis Family Funeral Home & Crematory – Walker Brown Chapel, 918-333-7665, 4201 Nowata Rd, Bartlesville, on Thursday, from 6-8 p.m. Visitation will also be held on Thursday from 10-8 and Friday 9-1. Services will be held 2 p.m. on Friday, at the Davis Family Funeral Home & Crematory – Walker Brown Chapel. Interment will follow in the Ethel Reece Cemetery in Barnsdall.
