Sharon Darlene Walden

Sharon Darlene Walden, 75, of Ramona, died Wednesday in Bartlesville. Sharon was born the oldest of five children to Arthur Dale and Betty Ruth (Symonds) McMillen on September 29, 1948 in Skiatook. She was raised in Ramona and as the oldest she took on a motherly role with her younger siblings. Sharon graduated from Ramona High School in 1966 then she went on to work for Phillips Petroleum Co. One day while on the job, Dean Walden made a wrong turn and ended up in Sharon’s office by coincidence. They had met a few years before at a dance and recognized each other. A relationship soon formed, and they were united in marriage on October 17, 1970 and made their home in Ramona. The kids were in agreement when asked about their mom; she was the best mom. She not only loved her own kids but all of their friends. Sharon always had her pantry stocked and cooked many a meal for all of them or they could reach in and grab a Little Debbie, she had all of them all the time. After 38 years of faithful service Sharon retired from Phillips, she worked in IT and Security all those years and was the Help Desk Supervisor when she retired. Sharon together with Dean enjoyed being home bodies at their rural Ramona home. Dean put in a garden so Sharon would have fresh vegetables to cook and can. When not at home Sharon loved to shop always looking for a bargain. As stated, she was an excellent mother, but she really shined as a grandmother, without the day-to-day stress of working she really focused in on quality time. She took them to school, picked them up and never ever said no. Everyone loved time with grandma and eating her Walden famous hamburgers, fried potatoes, and pecan pie. She put others before self and will be dearly missed. Sharon is survived by her loving husband of 54 years Dean, children, Stacy Walden, Bobby (Ashley) Walden and Katie Field, siblings, Linda (Morris) Brown, Karen McMillen, Jimmy (Kaye) McMillen and Larry McMillen grandchildren, Nick Corley, Jack Walden, Molly Walden and Tommy Walker and a host of other family and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents and son Tommy Field. Sharon’s family will receive friends on Wednesday, from 6-8 p.m., at the Davis Family Funeral Home & Crematory – Walker Brown Chapel, 918-333-7665, 4201 Nowata Rd, Bartlesville. Visitation will also be held on Wednesday from 10-8 and Thursday 9-11. Graveside services will be held on Thursday, 2 p.m., at the Ramona Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Carter Davis and the Davis Family Funeral Home & Crematory – Walker Brown Chapel.
