Stephen "Steve" William Michno

Stephen William Michno, 69, of Bartlesville, OK, died Friday in his hometown. Steve was a loving husband, father, grandfather and loyal friend. He will be dearly missed. Steve was born the son of Loddie Thomas and Doris Marie (Swank) on November 4, 1952, in Bartlesville. He was the youngest of 4 brothers: Joe, George and John. Steve grew up on the west side of town near the smelters plant. For primary school Steve attended St. John’s Catholic Church, and he attended College High School, graduating in 1969. Steve went on to further his education at Oklahoma State University (OSU). Steve often reminisced about his time, as a young man, in the deli at Mnich’s grocery store. Steve retired from Phillips Petroleum and later worked in the hardware department at Bartlesville Lowes, where he enjoyed being able to help people with their projects. Steve and Karen married in June of 1980 and moved to Copan, OK, where they raised their two boys, Jeremiah and Adam. He built their house and they built a farm from a plot of land and became part of the Copan community. Together, they supported their boys in 4-H, FFA, baseball, basketball and football. Steve loved to listen to the St. Louis Cardinals’ games on the radio, but during his boys’ ball seasons, he could always be found hanging on the fence watching, and ready to help any way he could. When not on the ball field or at the farm building fences, houses, barns or stalls, he could be counted on to be at the local fishing hole. Steve has fished in many states, but he loved Copan Lake for its crappie. Steve had many talents, including creating silver jewelry and leather belts and holsters. Steve is survived by his wife Karen; sons, Jeremiah (Rolanda) Michno, and Adam (Nancy) Michno; brothers, George and Joe Michno; and grandchildren, Cooper, Atenea and Helena. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother John Michno. Funeral mass will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Dewey.
