Victor "Vic" Lavell Earhart

Victor Lavell Earhart was born January 17, 1944 to Victor & Leanore Pauline (Barton) Earhart on the family farm near Havana, KS. It was there where Vic learned to love the outdoors. Helping his dad with fences, bringing buckets of spring water to his mother, collecting vegetables from the garden and playing in mud puddles when it rained. As a teen, he loaded and stack hay. He didn’t need to go to the gym, the muscles he built doing farm work were admired. He received his early education in the Niotaze area and when he was in high school, his parents sold the farm and moved to Caney, KS where he graduated from High school. After graduation, he proudly served in the US Army in the Vietnam War where he served as an Air Traffic Controller then as mechanic gunner on a helicopter while on flights. When he returned home, he went to work for Applied Automation. He met and married Linda Salanders and they had a daughter, Michelle. In 1995 Vic went to work for Measurement Controls in California, then to the Houston area to work for Bailey Controls & Pastec. When Vic met Susie Cox Reese, he told her she was his sole-mate, and he could love no other. She believed him and they married a month later. Vic & Susie were Foster Parents in Washington County, OK for ten years. They loved sharing their home & love for many children throughout those years. Vic enjoyed teaching many of them how to fish. With his daughter and Susie’s three children, they still had more love to give so they adopted two more children, Chase & Marie. Off season the family would vacation in their motor home. When grandkids came, Vic and Susie would take them on vacation. In recent years, their great-grandkids had the opportunity to travel with Nana & Papa. Vic & Susie were members of the Victory Life Church in Sherman, TX. He enjoyed attending there and going to Saturday Breakfast with the Pastor and men of the church until his health declined. Vic was totally loved by all his family. He was a doer, energetic, fun and silly. He adored his family and was loved by all. We will miss & love him forever! Vic was preceded in death by both parents. Sister Lenell Baer, brothers-in-law Clifford Bale, Raymond Cox, sister-in-law Dee Cox and mother & father-in-law Paul & Helen Cox. Survivors include his loving wife Susie, daughter Michelle Petrie (Gary), sister Luella Bale, bonus sons Art Reese, Steve Reese (Nina) Tammy Schulte (David) Marie & Chase Earhart, foster-daughters Norma & Lisa Roark. He was blessed with grandchildren: Ryder Russell, Dillon Reese (Tonya) Levi Reese, Andrea Gilbert (Dylan) Dusten Burdett (Jessica), Gavin Petrie (Jullia), Dillon Schulte (Haley), Robbie & Jayden Bernstein along with special heart felt granddaughters Lauren & Katie Koop. Great-grandchildren: Zoey & Kash Gilbert, Landon Burdett, Eli Schulte along with numerous nieces & nephews. Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, September 16, 2023, at the Davis Family Funeral Home – Dewey Chapel.
